Clean City - Clean Community – Disaster Risk Reduction

“Each and every one of us can make changes in the way we live our lives and become part of the solution” - Al Gore

Sign boards are a very important and an essential guide to our everyday living. It teaches us discipline and points us towards a better future. Unfortunately, these very sign boards that gives us guidelines are broken ignored and tossed aside.

humedica Lanka strives hard to bring up and nurture a generation of children who will respect the environment and follow these signs and become responsible citizens of Sri Lanka. In so doing we can have confidence that the environment will respect us back thus minimizing the Disaster risks.

“If we want children to flourish, to become truly empowered, then let us allow them to love the earth before we ask them to save it.” David Sobel

As requested by the Disaster Management center in the Jaffna District, humedica Lanka was able to donate 10 sign boards to be placed on main streets. These sign boards connect with the people and promote an interest in the hearts of everyone to want to keep the community clean. The Government Agent Jaffna and the Commanding Officer Jaffna have shown their utmost support of this idea. This is a valuable support to the people of Jaffna. These sign boards teach us how to separate Polyethylene, Plastic and Waste. We hope to promote this in many other districts soon.
